The Clear Company and Lloyd’s celebrate three years of partnership
Diversity consultancy, the Clear Company, and specialist global insurance market, Lloyd’s of London, are celebrating three years of collaborative partnership, throughout which Lloyd’s has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting best practice across the insurance industry.
At the beginning of its partnership with the Clear Company, Lloyd’s outlined its intentions to create a more inclusive recruitment process, create effective pipelines of diverse talent and promote best practice in diversity and inclusion across the wider market.
Following an in-depth recruitment audit, including desk research and reviews of nine ‘live hires’, a series of considered recommendations were outlined and implemented by the Clear Company to improve diversity and inclusion. One of the best received solutions was a custom built recruitment selection workshop which hiring managers operating within the Lloyd’s marketplace are required to take part in. To date, 150 individuals have been accredited on this course. Each stage of the audit was independently reviewed by an industry leading senior HR professional and a chartered occupational psychologist.
Among the results were a significant increase in requests for reasonable adjustments in the recruitment process – something which Lloyd’s hopes to replicate within the insurance companies it works with through the provision of an industry specific Clear Talents Tool Kit which all managing agents will have access to. Hiring managers of member companies will also continue to have the option to attend recruitment selection workshops.
Paul Awcock, Head of Talent Sourcing at Lloyd's, explains;
“Our longstanding partnership with the Clear Company is one founded on the continued provision of an outstanding service. The incredibly thorough audit facilitated by the team has not only helped us to ensure that our recruitment process is inclusive to diverse talent but also given us the opportunity to promote best practice across the entire specialist insurance sector.”
“The recommendations made by the Clear Company, have helped to eliminate bias within the recruitment process, and created tangible change in terms of diversity and inclusion. As a case in point, during our 2015 ‘emerging talent’ recruitment process, no reasonable adjustments were requested by candidates, just a year later over 100 requests were made by interviewees. In order to maintain this momentum, we’ve retained the Clear Company as trusted partners going forward.”
Kate Headley, Director of The Clear Company added;
“We were keen to take the challenge to create palpable transformation in a 329 year old market and are immensely proud to have worked in partnership with Lloyd’s for over three years. We are also incredibly pleased to have worked closely with the organisation to create tailored solutions which directly address recommendations made as part of the initial audit process, such as a best practice framework, personalised training programmes, and a unique technology platform.”
