Top employers to host disability inclusion event in Birmingham

Following research which revealed that 75% of disabled jobseekers find that their condition has an impact when looking for work, KMPG, in partnership with The Recruitment Industry Disability Initiative (RIDI), is hosting an event in Birmingham to showcase how employers can best ensure their recruitment supply chains are confident in attracting and engaging disabled jobseekers.

The Recruitment Industry Disability Initiative (RIDI) is a not-for-profit organisation working to increase the inclusion of disabled people in the workplace. Speakers at the event will include Mark Lomas, Head of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion at HS2 and Ben Weston, Head of Business Services at Guidant, which was this year’s RIDI Award winner in the category of Supply Chain Management.

The event is free to attend and lunch is included.

Commenting on the event, Kate Headley, spokesperson for RIDI and subject matter expert, said:

“Disabled individuals remain hugely underrepresented in the workplace, which is why events such as this are vital in ensuring that best practice in disability inclusion is shared and discussed. The vast majority of organisations are, in theory, very open to engaging with disabled jobseekers – but many simply don’t know where to begin. I have no doubt that business leaders who join us on the day will leave with a renewed sense of confidence around how to tap into this valuable talent pool through collaboration with their recruitment providers and wider supply chains.”

The event, Supply Chain Management Category Showcase, will run from 11am - 2pm on Thursday 27th September 2018 at KPMG, 1 Snow Hill Queensway, Birmingham B4 6GH – lunch is included.
