a group of children who are transported into another world and become magical creatures upon discovering a collection of crystals hidden in the woods
From ripping his shirt off and dancing in public at 22 stone for Rock band Pendulum Pendulum Slam Video to producing an acclaimed alternative gender version of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, born and bred Southend boy Paul Nicholls is no stranger to the spotlight and the odd insult or two. Now he is pouring his experience of living in the moment and being your authentic self, while making the most of your life, into a children’s novel called The Magical Secret of The Crystal Kingdom.
Producer and Filmmaker Nicholls, a former Stockbroker from Southend on Sea, Essex, United Kingdom can now add children’s author to his list of accomplishments. The as yet unpublished novel shot to number one on Inkitt in the children’s category. He was inspired to write the story following a trip to Disneyland Paris and Colchester Zoo with his children. He wanted to create stories that centred on love and being the absolute best you can be. ‘I find that a lot of children’s entertainment and adult entertainment focuses on darkness and perhaps the sometimes harsh side of life.’ Nicholls said with a look of genuine disappointment on his face. ‘I wanted to create a story that would make everyone happy and leave them with a big smile on their face instead. Yes life can be tough sometimes but I believe that if you focus on the love and kindness that this changes your outlook and allows you to live life in a happier way.’
