We’ve seen a real shift towards clinical commissioning groups purchasing our software to be used across all the practices in their area

Thousands more clinicians and administrative teams are set to benefit from new time-saving technology following recent investment in Lexacom digital dictation and document creation software. So far this year, ten clinical commissioning groups have already agreed to fund the rollout of Lexacom across their GP sites, which will transform the way practices create, send and manage patient referrals, as well as enabling administrative resources to be shared across sites.

The new contracts demonstrate a continuing shift towards integrated working, as more CCGs see the benefit of commissioning technology across their patch which can drive quality and efficiency improvements. Lexacom is ideally placed to support CCGs in these efforts thanks to its ability to provide systems which are flexible, reliable and intuitive to use. Lexacom Connect, the company’s cloud-based service, has been instrumental in enabling GP practices to save time, improve accuracy, and share administrative resources across sites. The new contracts secured so far in 2018 mean 52% of all UK GPs will be using Lexacom Digital Dictation.

Head of sales, James Morriss, said: “We’ve seen a real shift towards clinical commissioning groups purchasing our software to be used across all the practices in their area.

"The drive for organisations, both in the NHS and private sector, to work from multiple locations and share information securely has led to much greater demand for cloud-based document creation systems. According to our clients, Lexacom provides them with the best solution to enable their teams to work efficiently, accurately and securely.”

The Lexacom platform combines digital dictation, Lexacom Echo speech recognition and outsourced transcription in one system, with customers only paying for the services they use. Lexacom is the only system to integrate with all UK clinical systems, as well as approved transcription services and leading print to post service, Docmail. An exclusive partnership with Docman also ensures transfer of patient documents and referrals are seamless between different healthcare settings.

Lexacom Connect was developed to directly support the growing need for GPs and other clinicians to work together effectively. Lexacom Connect uses secure, encrypted cloud technology to store and process dictations and transcriptions, allowing information to be shared with multiple sites, with appropriate information governance in place. Recognising the benefits of enabling more efficient, integrated working, CCGs, GP federations and community trusts are adopting Lexacom Connect to support their efforts to speed up patient referrals, work more efficiently, and reduce reliance on paper.

Using Lexacom’s secure cloud-based technology brings the ability to:

• Share information and back office resources across federations and localities and dictate from multiple locations.
• Dictate and transcribe from branch surgeries and clinics, and record referrals during home visits for instant processing, without any need for paper.
• Reduce or remove reliance on temporary admin staff to manage workload peaks by sharing resources with neighbouring/federated practices.

Lexacom has been or is in the process of being rolled out across 18 CCG sites in addition to the significant number of individual GP practices, Federations, law firms and other organisations already using the software.
