The Recruitment Industry Disability Initiative (RIDI) is delighted to announce that British Paralympian, Liz Johnson, has been unveiled as the host of this year’s Recruitment Industry Disability Initiative (RIDI) Awards.

RIDI is a not for profit organisation working to remove the barriers that disabled people face in employment. Liz is an exemplary advocate of this cause, both through her swimming career – winning gold medals in the Paralympics and IPC World Championships – and through her business career, recently launching The Ability People, a recruitment agency staffed entirely by people living with disabilities.

On hosting the awards, the swimmer – who has cerebral palsy – commented:

‘‘Unfortunately, I am all too aware of the challenges that disabled jobseekers face. Many of these difficulties stem from a lack of understanding and shortage of visible role models. RIDI’s work to change this is very important, and every organisation that is publically sharing their experiences is helping to break down these barriers. Therefore, I’m delighted to be announced as the host for this year’s awards.’’

Kate Headley, spokesperson for RIDI and subject matter expert, comments:

“We’re extremely proud to announce Liz as our host for the RIDI awards. Her achievements in both the sporting arena and the business world just go to show the effect that breaking down barriers can have. By working together, I truly believe we can amplify our voices and make real change.”

The awards will take place on the 11th of April 2019.
