The Duke of London launch event was attended by 1,000 classic car enthusiasts, collectors, artists, musicians and influencers including Example and Aston Merrigold

After a six-month renovation project, London’s coolest classic car destination Duke of London opened the doors to its new West London home on June 1st 2019, with a star-studded launch event in partnership with Ballymore’s The Brentford Project.

More than 1,000 classic car enthusiasts – including collectors, artists, and musicians such as Example and Aston Merrigold – attended the event, exploring the 51,000sq ft motoring hub known as The Factory.

Guests were entertained by WAG Club DJ Chris Sullivan and enjoyed a champagne reception and refreshments from Le Swine, Oyster Boy (of Chiltern Firehouse) and The Small Beer Company, while chef Robin Gill provided gourmet appetisers from his new restaurant, Rye by the Water.

Duke of London's innovative The Factory comprises of a classic car and supercar showroom, events space and artists' studio, which is part of Ballymore's development of 11-acres of Brentford, West London, to establish a new waterside town centre for the area.

Guests attending the invite-only event explored Duke of London's enviable collection of classic and modern supercars for sale, including a Ferrari 355, Aston Martin DBS, Porsche 911 2.7S and an array of classic Mini Coopers, as well as The Duke's Head, a members' restaurant and bar space set centrally within the showroom space.

The venue also boasts a private events loft, Esmeralda's, which this summer will begin hosting supper clubs, cabaret night and art classes. Among these, supper clubs catered by chefs Jack Blumenthal and Scott Perkins, Classics and Cake car meets, art shows and craft fairs, drive-in movie nights and live music performances are planned for local car enthusiasts.

Duke of London founder and director Merlin McCormack said: “The Factory has been a labour of love for me these past six months. We have successfully brought this neglected and unloved brutalist behemoth of a building back to life. We’re looking forward to giving the classic car community a place to convene and hang out as well as entertaining the people of Brentford at the many events we have planned. A huge thank you to my incredible team of builders, friends and family for their mammoth support and help to get this place where it is today, and to Ballymore for believing in my crazy vision.”

Family-run business Duke of London currently offers classic car restoration, storage, serving, Ceramic Pro, Paint Protection Film and sales, but will also soon be home to daily hospitality including Le Swine bacon butties, Santa Maria Pizza and London Grind coffee among other refreshments.
