Newcastle-based rail and energy recruiter, Samuel Knight International, has welcomed the focus on infrastructure and rail improvements in the Spending Review announced today.

Craig Charlton, Business Development Consultant for Rail at Samuel Knight International commented:

“We’re pleased to see the government’s commitment to investing in ‘buses, roads, and rails’. Infrastructure is the foundation of our economy and keeping everything operating well is key to the success of businesses of all shapes and sizes. However, given the on-going skills shortages of specialist talent to build and maintain our roads and railways, we hope that a fair portion of this budget is invested in talent.”
“The additional finances for the New Towns fund and transport link improvements are certainly much needed. We also welcome the government’s commitment to funding the Northern Powerhouse Rail – a critical project for infrastructure and businesses in the North. What we hope, however, is that this commitment is not, as the Shadow chancellor claimed, a ‘sham’ spending review.”
