Marlow, 28 April 2016 – NetDespatch has raised £6,732 for Blind Children UK, as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to donate a fixed percentage of its turnover to charitable causes. With around 25,700 children and young people with sight loss in England, the charity provides vital support. NetDespatch staff selected Blind Children UK as one of the company’s supported charities, following the company’s annual vote by employees.

Although children and young people with sight loss are offered support by their local authority, in some areas of England fewer than two percent of children are receiving the help they need, according to Blind Children UK. The charity’s work includes support for families when a child is diagnosed with sight loss, vital movement and life-skills training, known as habilitation, and providing technology to ensure children with sight loss have the same opportunities as their peers.

“The generous donation from NetDespatch will help us to provide support for more children with sight loss,” said Blind Children UK spokesperson, Kate Ledigo. “Every penny donated is used to directly improve a young life in a very real way. Changing a child's life now opens up their world so they can look forward to a better, brighter future.”

“Raising children is not for the faint hearted, so it must be an overwhelming undertaking for parents to teach and support a blind child and give him a degree of independence, without the help of a specialist organisation,” said Elliot Evans, Marketing Manager at NetDespatch. “I’m proud that our staff made the decision to support a charity that helps to improve the lives of these children.”

Headquartered in Marlow, NetDespatch enables more than 130,000 businesses to streamline their parcel shipping processes through seamless integration with parcel carriers such as Royal Mail, APC Overnight, Yodel and UK Mail.
