LSE Department of Management restructures business education offering
Our aim is to deliver an exceptional and distinctive approach to management education
The Department of Management at the London School of Economics and Political Science has restructured its business education offering, with the launch of three brand new one-year Masters programmes, to run from autumn 2017.
• The MSc Marketing will combine cutting-edge industry research with business and data analytics and behavioural analysis to enable students to gain an in-depth understanding of how consumer markets operate, and why – developing the practical skills needed to set them apart from other marketing graduates
• The MSc Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship will teach students to think beyond current trends in the young and rapidly developing field of social innovation, by encompassing management, psychology, sociology, economics and anthropology throughout the curriculum
• And a new one year Masters in Management is a business-intensive programme, providing applicants with a fast-track alternative to the Department’s existing two-year option. Students will be required to undertake an in-depth analytical approach to global management thinking, work directly with organisations on real-life business projects and international study trips
The new programmes have been developed in response to growing demand from applicants and graduate employers, for business schools to run education programmes which more closely meet the demands of modern global industry.
Professor Sarah Ashwin, Head of the Department of Management, says;
“Our aim is to deliver an exceptional and distinctive approach to management education. Our outstanding teaching programmes provide lifelong benefits to our students and alumni, equipping them to contribute to organisational success and the betterment of society. The launch of these three new programmes broadens our programme portfolio to include important new areas, strengthening our brand as a world class institution for management education.”
LSE’s motto, “to know the cause of things”, provides the foundation for the School’s curriculum. Each programme has been created for students to gain a thorough understanding of the conflicting social, economic and political elements which influence organisations around the world, as well as building the required skillset to tackle them.
The launch of these programmes ties in with the Department’s 10 year anniversary, which is to be marked with a number of events and guest lectures throughout the year.
The first cohorts for these programmes will enrol in September 2017. To find out more about each, and how to apply, please visit the Department of Management’s website.
