BEIS Minister Greg Clark unveils Advanced’s regional HQ at the Mailbox
20th January 2017 – The Rt Hon Greg Clark, Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, has visited The Mailbox in Birmingham today to officially open the newly extended regional HQ of British company, Advanced, the third largest provider of software and services to the UK market.
Over the last nine months, the technology company has successfully created 200 new jobs at its West Midlands HQ, which occupies 45,000 sq. ft. of space in the iconic Mailbox, one of the city’s largest commercial buildings. 75% of the new hires are from the region. The company will bring further job prosperity to the area as it hires an additional 200 employees over the next nine months.
The Minister, who has stated his goals for establishing a modern industrial strategy for Britain will be made up of connected cities that are fit for the future, commented:
“Advanced is a great example of an innovative British business that is growing and creating skilled jobs across the UK. Its investment in regional hubs, such as today’s opening of its extended West Midlands office here in Birmingham, is attracting new talent and creating exciting regional career opportunities. This fits with the vision of our industrial strategy which will make the UK the place where businesses choose to start, grow and prosper,” says Rt. Hon Greg Clark, Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
Gordon Wilson, CEO, Advanced, comments: “It’s an honour to welcome the Minister to our offices today and officially open the doors to our regional hub in Birmingham. We are keen to create a sustainable growing business. With 200 new staff already in place and a further 200 roles to be filled, we are positively contributing to the jobs market here in the West Midlands. By attracting the best talent, we’re confident that our ambitious plans can be delivered.
“We are encouraged by the Minister’s ambitious plans for Britain and strongly support a connected business community that will underpin a culture of innovation and growth,” concludes Gordon.
“It is fantastic that Advanced recognises the benefits of doing business here in Birmingham. The negotiations to leave the European Union mean it’s more important than ever before to be ambitious and determined. Advanced have done exactly this and, as a major technology company, is just the sort of business we should be embracing,” said Andy Street, Conservative party candidate for the mayor of West Midlands.
“The work on the Industrial Strategy by Greg Clark and his team will be vital in creating the conditions for growth for businesses to consider the West Midlands as the ideal place to set up and grow.”
Advanced is undergoing one of the largest transformations of any UK business today, which includes an ambitious talent acquisition programme. In April 2016, Advanced announced its goal to recruit 400 new staff members over the next 18 months and it is on target to recruit these roles by the autumn.
Advanced is recognised as a British business success story having grown to a £750m company in just eight years. Following its acquisition by Vista Equity Partners in March 2015, the business has undergone significant transformation and investment in its people and solutions, creating a solid platform for further impressive growth. Advanced employs 2,000 people and has a loyal customer base of more than 20,000 organisations.
