Ulm, Baden-Württemberg (20.09.2017) – Prospitalia GmbH, Germany’s leading hospital group purchasing organization (GPO), announced today the acquisition of the UK company Healthlogistics.co.uk Limited, located in Tring, Hertfordshire, UK.
Healthlogistics provides information and data management software and services for surgical and critical care environments within hospitals. The solutions enable point of care data capture which is considered the holy grail for improved clinical performance, as well as enabling other key processes such as eProcurement, material management and procedure-level costing. This provides a range of benefits that help hospitals to save money, boost revenue and improve patient safety.
Through their subsidiaries, hTrak Europe Limited and hTrak Pty Limited located in Melbourne, Australia, Healthlogistics have implemented their wide range of services successfully across Europe and internationally.
Bradley P. Gould, Prospitalia’s CEO said: “For many years, as the market leader among German GPOs, we have been supporting hospitals towards working and purchasing more efficiently, more economically and in line with regulatory and legal requirements. The focus of our activities has been hospital managers and procurement professionals. The acquisition of Healthlogistics and their core product hTrak will enable us to digitally capture relevant data that occurs in all surgical and operative areas of a hospital, e.g. type and number of utilized goods, time needed per procedure, performing surgeons and other clinicians and patient data. Our goal is to relieve healthcare professionals of administrative work and to allow them to focus on their core tasks – the health and wellbeing of the patient. By doing this, we are getting closer to accomplishing our aim to support all departments and areas of a hospital.”
Established in 2002, hTrak is a Healthcare information management system that uses mobile technology and cloud based systems, to capture information at the point of care, thereby providing reliable and accurate information to managers and clinicians. hTrak solutions are used in surgical and critical care environments, e.g. operating theatres, cath labs, day surgery, endoscopy, medical imaging and ICU. hTrak is the "bridge" that connects the clinical front line with the administrative and business functions of the hospital. All hTrak solutions operate in a Software as a Service (SaaS) environment. This makes it possible to pass on the efficiencies associated with the centralized management of information such as manufacturers’ product master data (such as implantable devices and other consumables). This approach normalizes mission critical data, improving efficiency and improving data collection compliance.
Markus Wild, CFO for Prospitalia said: “Data and information-based management of a hospital is still very challenging from an executive perspective, as the data regarding material use, stock levels, expiry dates etc. captured with conventional methods are not 100% accurate and reliable. In addition, capturing this data manually, requires a very high amount of labour. hTrak offers a digital alternative that shows managers relevant data regarding a medical procedure in real time. hTrak integrates all relevant systems related to medical procedures and presents it in an easy to use business intelligence system.”
Kirk Kikirekov, Managing Director of hTrak Pty and Non-Executive Director of Healthlogistics is thrilled about the acquisition. He said: “The acquisition of Healthlogistics/hTrak by Prospitalia is a genuinely exciting development for our company. It provides the impetus for the Healthlogistics/hTrak products to be further expanded into the European market. The issues faced by hospital administrators and clinicians are universal, and the hTrak products are equally applicable in Australia, as they are in Europe. The acquisition also provides Healthlogistics/hTrak with the capability, knowledge and support to expand the GPO business into the Australian and United Kingdom markets, where the GPO model is not mature, but offers enormous potential for customers.”
Speaking on behalf of Benesco Charity Limited, Lord David Wolfson commented: “We are very pleased to have completed the sale of Healthlogistics to Prospitalia. Prior to the sale, Benesco was one of the major shareholders of the company, and we have had a long and successful involvement spanning nine years. In that time, Healthlogistics has made major inroads into NHS Trusts, encouraging collective procurement and providing services in support of the NHS Scan4Safety and PEPPOL programme. We believe that Prospitalia has the strategy to take the company to the next stage of its development, and continue the positive legacy we have left. We wish Prospitalia and the Management team well.”
As the leading hospital group purchasing organization in the German health care market, Prospitalia is offering their affiliated institutions a wide range of services. Negotiating prices with industry partners is the core service but is supplemented with consulting services and efficiency analyses applicable to all different hospital departments and areas.
Together with its subsidiaries, Pro Care Management GmbH and Prospitalia Comparatio, Prospitalia has a purchasing volume of more than 2.4 billion Euro.
