Know Your Flood Risk and Landmark Information longlisted for the 2017 Responsible Business Awards
There is also an annotated office drawing, which gives advice on how to keep water out and adapt buildings to reduce the damage a flood could pose
The Know Your Flood Risk campaign and Landmark Information are celebrating after being Longlisted for the UK’s longest running and most prestigious awards programme, championing responsible business in the UK and abroad: the BITC Responsible Business Awards.
Know Your Flood Risk, in conjunction with Landmark Information, has been Longtlisted for The Barclays Developing Resilience Award for its ‘Business Guide to Flood Resilience’; a free-to-download guide which, when used in conjunction with Landmark’s environmental due diligence reports, enables businesses to accurately understand what their flood risk is and prepare accordingly.
The awards champion the most inspiring businesses that are making a difference by taking action to build more inclusive workplaces, stronger communities and tackle our biggest environmental challenges.
Commenting Mary Dhonau OBE, Chief Executive of the Know Your Flood Risk campaign: “The Business Guide to Flood Resilience was created to provide highly practical guidance on steps all businesses can take to make their premises flood resilient. It includes an emergency plan template to act as a guiding hand on what steps to follow to make your office, factory or other commercial facility flood resilient. There is also an annotated office drawing, which gives advice on how to keep water out and adapt buildings to reduce the damage a flood could pose. By following the advice, it will help to make recovery that much quicker.”
Added Angela Gordon-Lennox from Landmark Information: “We believe it is important to help safeguard local economies and jobs wherever possible from the effects of flooding. The free Guide which was written by the Know Your Flood Risk campaign, in conjunction with Landmark Information, delivers pragmatic guidance to support businesses in making sure they are aware and prepared for future flood events to help minimise resulting business downtime. We are delighted the guide has been recognised on the longlist of the Business in the Community Awards for 2018.”
Chief Executive of Business in the Community, Amanda Mackenzie, said: “More than ever businesses are expected to play their part in creating the society we all want. We are proud of Know Your Flood Risk and Landmark Information who have been Longlisted for the Responsible Business Awards 2018 for their work in helping to build healthy communities with successful businesses at their heart.”
The winners of all ten categories, including the Responsible Business of the Year will be announced at the Responsible Business Gala Dinner at the Royal Albert Hall on 3 July, in front of 1,200 business leaders. The headline sponsors of the 2018 Responsible Business Awards are Barclays, Fujitsu, Unilever, Unipart, UPS, and Hogan Lovells as well as Anglian Water, the winner of the 2017 Responsible Business of the Year.

About Know Your Flood Risk:
Know Your Flood Risk is a campaign raising awareness of the risk of flooding from all sources - not just from the river, sea, or a visible water course. The majority of flood insurance claims are for surface water flooding where there is no obvious water to alert a homeowner to the potential risk. The Know Your Flood Risk campaign provides essential practical guidance to enable homeowners and property professionals to mitigate against and prepare for the risk of being flooded. The campaign supplies a property-specific flood report for £24 which can be used by homeowners to help identify the potential risk, as well as confirm whether they will be able to obtain insurance at standard terms. More information is available at www.knowyourfloodrisk.co.uk.
