Tapping into emerging talent pools is increasingly becoming a proven method for companies to find top-tier talent

The Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo) has partnered with specialist training provider, Recruitment Juice, to offer members with Apprenticeship Levy pots the opportunity to upskill emerging talent. The move is part of the trade association’s wider commitment to promoting the recruitment profession as a career destination for entry-level candidates in order to pipeline future skills.

Through the initiative, trainees can achieve a Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Recruitment Resourcing or a Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Recruitment through blended learning programmes which combine engaging online learning and assessment, expert webinars and individual coaching. Course content is designed to achieve specific learning objectives tailored to the specific roles, while both options include sessions on legal and ethical requirements and employee and employer responsibilities.

The news comes after it was revealed that just £268m was spent by Levy-paying employers on apprentices in 2017-18, the programme’s first year of operation, representing just 13% of the Treasury’s £2.01bn apprenticeships budget. Unused funds expire in 24 months.

From April 2019, companies which are not Apprenticeship Levy payers can receive funds from organisations that are, which can transfer up to 25% of their unused pots through the Government’s Apprenticeship Service.

Commenting on the initiative, Ann Swain, Chief Executive of APSCo, said:

“We are delighted to be working in partnership with Recruitment Juice to identify and develop the next generation of professional recruiters. Tapping into emerging talent pools is increasingly becoming a proven method for companies to find top-tier talent and create a strong pipeline for future leaders – and supporting the training of these professionals through the Apprenticeship Levy means that funds do not go to waste. Feedback from members involved in the programme so far has been extremely positive and I have no doubt that other APSCo members will benefit from growing their own talent through this fantastic initiative.”

Matt Trott, Managing Director of Recruitment Juice, added:

“Recruitment Juice is proud to offer these apprenticeship qualifications as part of our wider mission to drive excellence across the recruitment profession. One thing that the highest performing and fastest growing recruitment businesses all have in common is a commitment to talent development, and through engaging entry level talent in an innovative way we can maximise their potential for everyone’s benefit.”
