On Saturday 4th May, SAE Logistics staff will join Footsteps parents and Maple Cross School PTA, to don their wellies, gather their spades and make the short trip down the road to ensure that the children will have a beautiful outside space to enjoy for years to come.

SAE Logistics based in Maple Cross, Rickmansworth are proud to have supported local schools and the community in the area throughout the years by supplying road safety equipment and information as well as much needed equipment for the local community centre.

They are also proud supporters of many charities including Watford Peace Hospice and Marie Curie. In lieu of client cards and gifts at Christmas, SAE committed to pledge something a little different this year. SAE wanted to give back to the environment as well as future generations of local children, by buying, supplying and planting a range of trees at the new Footsteps Pre-school based at Maple Cross JMI School.

Managing Director Richard Bousfield said “It’s fantastic to be able to make a long- lasting impact in our local area. For SAE it is important we do our best to minimise our impact on the environment as well as to make a difference for our clients and our community” Now spring is upon us, the time has come to reap the fruits of their winter planning.

Having consulted closely with parties from Maple Cross JMI, Footsteps Pre-school and a tree-mendous effort from the knowledgeable team from Burston Garden Centre in St Albans, a carefully considered variety of fruit as well as ornamental trees will be planted. The trees will mature into a wonderful area that children will enjoy for many years, as well as, providing a suitable environment for all of the enriching activities that their Forest School sessions will bring.

Footsteps Pre-school are already working on how the fruit can be used to create interesting new foods and tasting sessions for the children to enjoy and all of the ways for the new trees to create wonderful outside spaces to explore!

Area Manager of Footsteps Nurseries &Preschools Kelly Carter said “We are so grateful to SAE for the wonderful opportunity they have provided for both the current children and the next generations of children who will enjoy all the trees as part of our commitment to protecting and learning from our outside environment, exercise and healthy eating. We are thrilled that businesses in our community are getting behind our thriving new site at Maple Cross.”
