Sterling warns talent professionals that efficient background screening is more important than ever

As the talent management sector celebrates the second annual Global Talent Acquisition Day (GTAD), a leading international background screening firm, Sterling, has urged professionals to make robust background checks a priority, in light of hiring compliance obligations in many job roles and industry sectors.

GTAD is a worldwide day to celebrate recruiters, hiring managers, and everyone working in the sector. Globally valued at £179 billion, the sector is going from strength to strength. However, this increased activity has also brought a greater need for more secure and efficient employee screening programs.

This is only exacerbated by the increase in global mobility, potentially allowing high risk applicants to slip through the net and cause damage, with the numbers of fake qualifications and insider fraud both rising over the last year. In an analysis of its company data, Sterling has observed a sharp increase in the number of background checks that it has carried out, performing an extra 35,000 over the last two years in Europe alone - excluding the UK.
