To supply Specialist Cloud Services alongside key partners to public sector and central government

NTT Security, the global information security and risk management company, has been confirmed as a supplier for the G-Cloud 8 framework by the Crown Commercial Service (CCS). The eighth iteration of the framework, the G-Cloud agreement is used by organisations right across the UK public sector, including central government, local government, health, education and the emergency services, without having to go through a formal procurement process.

The G-Cloud agreement supports the Government’s policy to centrally manage the procurement of common goods and services through an integrated commercial function at the heart of government.
NTT Security will deliver a range of security services including: Cloud Security Service, Cloud Security Assessment, Cloud-based DDoS, Risk Insight Assessment and Cloud Data Encryption – alongside key technology partners. Each service is designed to offer customers greater control and visibility of their cloud applications and systems and can be tailored to each environment.

Peter Cunningham, Senior Vice President, Northern Europe, NTT Security, comments: “The G-Cloud agreement, which has been mandated for use across all government departments and public sector bodies, provides NTT Security with a huge opportunity to provide a comprehensive range of information security services to a sector that is increasingly moving services and applications into the cloud.

“We look forward to working with customers to provide services that will not only protect their data, but also provide greater visibility and control into who is accessing what information and when.”

Notes for editors:

• According to the 2015 NTT Global Threat Intelligence Report (GTIR) – an analysis of over six billion security attacks in 2014 – the public sector is the number one target for malware attacks in the UK. The report shows that 40% of all malware attacks in the UK were against public sector organisations – three times more than the insurance sector (13%) and five times that of the media and finance sectors (9%). http://www.nttcomsecurity.com/en/services/managed-security-s...

• According to Soctim (IT Trends Survey: https://www.socitm.net/press/7) cloud computing is being used or piloted by 90% of local public service organisations, including local authorities and other local public services and voluntary sector organisations.

• Figures from the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) reveal that data breaches have cost local government £2.3m in fines since 2010, with local government among the worst offenders for protecting confidential information, eclipsed only by the NHS.
