CPA Global announces USPTO contract award to provide full classification services

Partnership will further empower the USPTO to fulfill its mission to examine, grant and disseminate patents and trademarks.

IP technology leader CPA Global®, is pleased to announce a new contract award to support the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Office of the Commissioner for Patents, with Full Classification Services.

The USPTO receives hundreds of thousands of patent applications each year which require classification within approximately 145,000 United States Patent Classification (USPC) categories and 260,000 Cooperative Patent Classification (CPC) categories. Patent classification systems categorize patents and other documents relevant to the technical features of their content. Once assigned, they are used to efficiently locate other potentially relevant prior art documents. CPA Global’s Full Classification Services will ensure patent applications are routed correctly within the USPTO’s examination corps and that patent documents remain easily searchable by classification code for examiners and the public at large.
