With many organizations looking at a ‘cloud first’ strategy for their desktop deployments, we see the critical need for solutions like Liquidware’s

Company drops “Labs” from its name; launches rebrand at Citrix Synergy

ORLANDO, FL. – May 23, 2017 – Liquidware (formerly Liquidware Labs) today unveiled its new name and branding at Citrix Synergy at booth #412.
While dropping “Labs” from the company name is a subtle change, it is a clear recognition of how the market and business of desktop transformation has evolved since the company’s initial foray into the market in 2009. At that time, desktop virtualization was in its infancy, the technology was immature and did not work as anticipated, nor did it deliver the promised business benefits. However, in the last decade desktop virtualization, and associated technologies, is now mainstream. Liquidware’s removal of “Labs” from its name demonstrates that it and the market have collectively moved beyond experimentation and early adopter stages.

“We have ridden the rollercoaster of desktop virtualization over the last decade; with products coming and going and companies being acquired. We remain the only independent, platform agnostic vendor in the market to deliver unprecedented innovation,” said Chris Akerberg, COO, Liquidware. “Our solutions are increasingly being used by larger mid-enterprise to enterprise organizations who depend on our solutions’ advanced features, scalability and universal applicability in desktop environments.”

The name Liquidware connotes the fluidity of the company’s software offerings which seamlessly support all leading desktop platforms, whether on-premises, physical or virtual, or in the cloud. This fluidity is a highly important consideration as it is widely anticipated that desktop environments will grow increasingly heterogenous, encompassing numerous OS, virtual platforms, DaaS and other cloud approaches. Recent research from IDC (1) states that the virtual client computing (VCC) software enabling hosted desktop-as-a-service (DaaS) will grow at a five year CAGR of 29.1% by 2019. Whereas, on-premises virtual client computing software will only grow at a five-year CAGR of just 2.8%.

Robert Young, Research Director, IDC IT Service Management and Client Virtualization Software, commented, “With many organizations looking at a ‘cloud first’ strategy for their desktop deployments, we see the critical need for solutions like Liquidware’s. Having management tools that are platform agnostic enables companies to avoid lock-in and adapt and morph as their business demands dictate.”
