Boston and NVIDIA are able to bring full VR capabilities to multiple users in unconventional spaces such as mobile command centres

Munich, Germany (9th October, 2017) – Boston Limited is pleased to announce a multi-user VR system concept brought to reality at the GPU Technology Conference (GTC) in Europe.

As NVIDIA’s largest Northern European partner and Elite Solution Provider, Boston worked with NVIDIA engineers to reduce the complexity of virtualisation by consolidating hardware for the most demanding use-cases.

The self-contained solution runs four virtual machines on just one Supermicro PC server using VMware to virtualize the hardware. The solution is easy to transport in its flight case and includes four NVIDIA® Quadro® P6000 GPUs, one for each user running HTC Vive Business Edition headsets.

Boston, innovators of disruptive technologies, immediately recognised the enterprise opportunity that multi-user systems offer. VR is currently at the forefront of military and first responder training, medical and scientific research and manufacturing and design, however, traditional VR focuses on a single user with the scaling of solutions relying on multiple PC configurations. By creating a single, self-contained, multi-user solution that is portable and easy to deploy, Boston and NVIDIA are able to bring full VR capabilities to multiple users in unconventional spaces such as mobile command centres, where simulation training can add tremendous value and also safety.

Manoj Nayee, Managing Director of Boston Limited, says, “Multi-user systems open up opportunities to use VR in a wide variety of use cases, and Boston is excited to lend its expertise, support and lab facilities to make it a reality. We are pleased to launch this unique collaborative solution with NVIDIA® at GTC Europe on stand G.05 where attendees to the conference will be able to see the solution in action for themselves.”

“We’re opening up new opportunities to reap the benefits of VR throughout the workplace by lowering space, power and cost requirements and offering remote management capabilities of multi-user VR systems built on virtualisation technologies,” says Sandeep Gupte, Director of Professional Visualisation at NVIDIA. “Our high-end NVIDIA Quadro professional GPUs are VR Ready and provide the performance, reliability and driver features for an enterprise-grade experience.”
