Meat free treats at Not Dogs

“Now, thanks to VBites’ meat alternatives, we can make our whole menu vegan on request.”

New meat-free treats featuring plant-based foods from award winning ethical food firm VBites are going down a storm at popular Birmingham eatery Not Dogs.

Since their launch in September, sales of the veggie hot dog company’s ‘What the Duck Dog’ and ‘Chris-P ‘Chicken’ Burger’ made with VBites’ vegan ‘meats’ have been flying, according to Not Dogs co-founder Jane Yates.

“Our ‘What the Duck Dog’ is especially proving a big hit,” says Jane. “Now, thanks to VBites’ meat alternatives, we can make our whole menu vegan on request.”

Promising meaty dogs without the meat, Not Dogs was created by friends Katie McDermott and Jane Yates and has been backed by Sir Richard Branson.

In 2014, Katie and Jane were runners up in the Tastiest Startup category of the Virgin Food Festival.

“As well as being fun and innovative, we wanted the brand to appeal to meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans alike,” said Jane. “A third of our customers so far have been meat eaters.”

Plant based ‘meats’ from VBites that feature on Not Dogs new menu include ‘chicken’, streaky style rashers and hoisin ‘duck’. The latter is used in one of the fast food restaurant’s Not Pots - pots of fluffy white rice with various toppings.

Because all VBites’ foods are made from 100% natural plant based ingredients and free from animal products/derivatives, cholesterol, lactose, hydrogenated fats, artificial colours and GMOs, they are suitable for vegetarians, vegans, people who are lactose or casein intolerant and those looking for healthier and more ethical lifestyles.
