Angela Ene, the founder of a London based business Modafirma, has been shortlisted in two categories for the retail and Ecommerce and marketing and advertising at the inaugural BMW i UK Tech Founder Awards.

Angela Ene a former investment banking professional, finance director and chartered Accountant said she launched Modafirma when she became frustrated with the lack of variety of stylish work wear on the high street and the difficulty she had trying to find unique, high quality clothing, jewellery and accessories from global independent designers or retailers in one online place.
The BMW i UK Tech Founder Awards celebrates and champions the entrepreneurial journeys of those who create, disrupt and innovate within the UK’s rapidly changing tech landscape.
The new programme comes from the organisers of the NatWest Great British Entrepreneur Awards, which acknowledges the hard work and inspiring stories of British entrepreneurs and businesses in Great Britain. Now in its sixth year, the Awards have celebrated some outstanding entrepreneurs who have gone on to become household names, including; Julie Deane OBE, Cambridge Satchel Company, James Watt, BrewDog and Shaun Pulfrey, Tangle Teezer.
Modafirma founder, Angela Ene, said “ currently over 60% of newly launched independent fashion and apparel brands fail within the first year of trading. This is primarily due to prohibitive costs, lack of entrepreneurial know-how and rigid barriers to entry. I launched Modafirma with the main aim of providing a medium for these brands to garner visibility, to optimise the buyer-supplier chain within the industry and provide a marketplace for the style conscious to buy unique, high quality pieces whilst simultaneously promoting and supporting the scale of the independent brands they buy from”.
Founder of the BMW i UK Tech Founder Awards, Francesa James, said: “We’ve been blown away by the quality of applicants received this year and believe our finalists are a great demonstration of the entrepreneurial talent in the UK’s tech space.
“Behind every great tech business is a great entrepreneur, and behind them is an inspiring story. These are the people who create, disrupt and innovate. That’s what we’re looking to celebrate and champion with the BMW i UK Tech Founder Awards.”
BMW i’s Sophie Chiappe said: “The finalists showcase the innovation challenges that businesses face and the technological advancements that will lead the way. Technology has to be at the forefront of business development. It is so important to celebrate this innovation and the individuals driving this forward.
“We are delighted to be partnered with the UK Tech Founder Awards and celebrate the entrepreneurial stories behind the individuals changing the future of the technological landscape.”
The winners of the first BMW i UK Tech Founder Awards will be announced at the Awards Final on Tuesday 27th November in London.
