LONDON (5 April 2019) — What’s your favourite city? This is the question we asked 57 of our travel writers. And while you might be able to guess some of the answers, there were a few surprises. Why these places? Well, we asked our writers to justify themselves, and the results raised some interesting questions about what makes travel writers tick. But, perhaps more importantly, they begin to answer the question: what makes a city great?

And also, from this issue onwards, our online content moves to a new home as the website merges with National Geographic UK. The expansion of the UK site will combine talents, offer even more complementary content and ensure a consistent brand experience for readers:

Destinations: We bask in the ‘Warm Heart of Africa’ — the landlocked country of Malawi; explore Greece’s historic region of Central Macedonia; and spend a long weekend in Limerick. Our photo story, meanwhile, looks at the lives
