Ciaran Burke Co-founder of Swoop

It’s another exciting day for the Swoop team as they have been recognised as one of FinTech50’s Hot Ten Companies for 2019. As a FinTech solution that supports SMEs to access funding and savings, they’re excited to be recognised for the work they’re doing to help small businesses across UK and Ireland.

The FinTech50 is an annual list of the 50 hottest FinTech companies in Europe selected by some of the biggest names in FinTech.

Now in its seventh year, it was the first list worldwide to recognise FinTech companies for innovation. They look at FinTechs across Europe, across all verticals, and each year invite an expert panel to select the FinTechs they believe will be 'the ones to watch'. And Swoop has been selected as one of the Hot Ten.

Swoop co-founder, Ciaran Burke, spoke from the announcement event in London. “We feel honoured to have been selected by such a high-profile panel as one of the Hot Ten FinTechs. We’re sitting alongside some exceptional businesses, so are absolutely thrilled that our passion for helping SMEs to flourish and grow is being recognised at this level.

“SMEs are a hugely important part of all economies. The effective provision of finance and banking services to these businesses is crucial for boosting economic performance. Over recent years, we have seen a significant growth in alternative finance, challenger banks, and a burgeoning investor base coupled with government grant and tax relief schemes, but this expanding supply of finance requires intelligent and timely delivery.

“Swoop serves as a virtual CFO connecting SMEs to the best solutions for their business needs. The future of SME banking is about more than one FinTech, one bank or one source of finance. It is about delivering independent curation of the right service and the right type and blend of finance, for every SME, at the right time.”

FinTech50 is not an awards programme, as there are no outright winners. And they don't rely on 'entries' just the views of their international panel members. It’s a tribute to this hugely enterprising sector that is transforming financial services, and an accolade to the movers, shakers and disruptive technologies, like Swoop.

This amazing news comes following the £5million funding award from the UK’s Banking Competition Remedies (BCR) which is being used to grow the business in order to support more SMEs more quickly. Since the win Swoop have been investing heavily in their platform and building out an incredible team across the UK, Ireland, and beyond.

Ciaran added “it’s exciting to know that as our business grows and succeeds, then numerous small businesses have been given the opportunity to grow and succeed too. We couldn’t be happier”.

Huge congratulations to the other companies on the list.
