• GSUK shortlisted for environmental innovation enabled by new technology

• Responsible Business Awards 2019 are run by Ethical Corporation and celebrate responsible business excellence

LONDON, 30th September 2019: Genuine Solutions (GSUK) has been shortlisted for a Responsible Business Award 2019 – for circular innovation. The awards will be presented in London on 2nd October.

The Circular Innovation category celebrates innovation which moves a company from a linear to a circular model. GSUK has been shortlisted for its commitment to reducing the volume of e-waste that ends up in landfill. Since its launch in 2005, the company has recovered more than 22.5 million mobile phones, accessories and components, preventing more than eight thousand tonnes of e-waste ending up in landfill.

The Responsible Business Awards are run by the Ethical Corporation - an independent business intelligence, publishing and networking organisation. It encourages businesses around the world to practice high levels of ethical behaviour and do the right thing for their customers and the wider planet. 2019 marks the 10th anniversary of the Responsible Business Awards, which showcase companies driving the sustainability agenda. Judges include Chief Executives of large corporations, journalists and senior campaigners on environmental issues.

Gurjit Dhillon, Associate Director at GSUK, commented: “The Responsible Business Awards are the world’s leading celebration of responsible business behaviour. To be shortlisted in the circular innovation category delivers public recognition of the values by which GSUK operates. The electronics industry could prevent one million tonnes of e-waste and save 14 million tonnes of CO2 emissions by recycling resources more effectively. This award recognises our part in making this happen.”

“Ethical Corporation has made a major contribution in advancing the cause of more responsible and sustainable business models. It provides a unique, refreshing perspective and insights for responsible business leaders,” commented Paul Polman, former CEO, Unilever.

The Responsible Business Awards 2019 will be taking place on October 2nd at 8 Northumberland Avenue in London – bringing together the most innovative, passionate and dedicated sustainability teams to promote the successes of the industry and celebrate the best and brightest. The winners will be announced at the awards.
