51Degrees has introduced an NGINX module to allow customers to integrate its fastest, most accurate device detection solution into existing NGINX frameworks. NGINX, the open source reverse-proxy load-balancer, is currently used by more than 40% of the world’s busiest websites. 51Degrees created the module due to customer demand to provide seamless integration of its services.

NGINX is a free, open-source, high-performance HTTP server and reverse proxy. It is known for its high performance, stability, rich feature set, simple configuration, and low resource consumption. It powers several high-visibility sites, such as Netflix, Hulu, Pinterest, CloudFlare, Airbnb, WordPress.com, Eventbrite and many others.

The new module will allow NGINX users to integrate 51Degrees’ device detection solution into NGINX to benefit from ease of implementation and streamlined web servers with a higher level of device intelligence. The integration simplifies the network by recognising device specifications that pass through NGINX - removing the need for the 51Degrees solution to be added to each web server. This integration also improves the ability to upscale in a cost and time efficient manner.

51Degrees’ patented process analyses HTTP headers to identify the specific device browsing a website, enabling the site to deliver a vastly improved user experience. 51Degrees achieves 99.9% or better accuracy. The data analysis team works with manufacturer data sources to classify the characteristics of more than 200 new web enabled devices every week.
