CRM should be the main hub of most of your personal data and therefore it is the natural place to manage many of your GDPR obligations.

Reading, UK, May 18th - Workbooks, the leading British CRM vendor, has updated its internal processes and procedures as well as the products and services it delivers to its customers in preparation to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) that will come into effect on May 25th.

The GDPR is setting guidelines for the collection and processing of personal data of individuals within the European Union — empowering individuals to control how their data is used. With CRM being the main hub for personal data at many SMEs, Workbooks has introduced new features to support GDPR and help organisations meet some of their GDPR obligations.

Workbooks has created a ‘Compliance Record’. This record, connected to People and Leads in Workbooks CRM allows organisations to record and evidence on what legal grounds they are processing personal data. The Compliance Record helps customers understand which records inside their CRM database have valid legal grounds to process and which may not.

Workbooks has tied the concept of compliance into their Marketing Automation solution GatorMail, so customers will only be able to send an email or mailshot to those individuals who have valid Compliance Records, safeguarding them from any unfortunate error. This ‘GDPR Mode’ is an option every customer can turn on or off, depending on their requirements. Workbooks also offers customers the ability to implement preference centres to better manage people’s preferences and accuracy of data.

Workbooks are also offering ‘GDPR readiness’ professional services packages to help customers get all of the processes and workflows in place in order to drive compliance. These packages are designed to help customers with their supplier management, data breach incident management and management of Data Subjects Rights & Freedoms re-quests. They include system configuration, pre-set reports and staff training.

Workbooks has helped customers proactively too by creating a GDPR resources Centre with useful and practical resources and guidance, including whitepapers, webinars and FAQs.

John Cheney CEO of Workbooks commented: “With the new legislation around GDPR and e-privacy and the onus on businesses, large and small, to improve the way they deal with data, it has become more and more critical to leverage tools like CRM. In essence CRM should be the main hub of most of your personal data and therefore it is the natural place to manage many of your GDPR obligations. Workbooks has developed its solutions and services to ensure it helps customers meet as many of these obligations as possible.”
