For too long, the BI market has been focused on building simple charts on silos of data, as opposed to truly understanding why performance has changed

27 June 2019, London, UK – AVORA CEO, Ricky Thomas, has been named the ‘2019 Deep Tech Entrepreneur’ at the prestigious Enterprise Awards, known as the Oscars for Technology Entrepreneurs, for his work in co-founding and building AVORA. AVORA uses the power of machine learning and augmented intelligence to give organisations a totally new way to understand diverse and complex data quickly and in one place - revealing critical insights and intelligence in seconds, as opposed to days or weeks it might normally take.

Now in its ninth year, the Enterprise Awards in association with the WCIT (Worshipful Company of Information Technologists), celebrates and recognises the very best of the UK’s technology entrepreneurial talent. Uniquely focused on the founder rather than the businesses themselves, the Enterprise Awards boasts previous winners that have achieved prominence on both private and public markets. The awards are based on vision, growth, innovation, funding, use of capital, use of resources, strategy, execution, ambition and determination to succeed.

“I’m delighted to be personally recognised, especially because this award also reflects on the power of our technology,” said Ricky Thomas, CEO of AVORA. “I started AVORA out of my own frustration with existing platforms to help me run my businesses. For too long, the BI market has been focused on building simple charts on silos of data, as opposed to truly understanding why performance has changed, and acting on this quickly. It’s our intention is to end data paralysis, make every business user an empowered data citizen, and redefine the potential for actionable decision making across the entire enterprise. It’s humbling to be in the company of such prestigious winners past and present.”

Mr Thomas is a serial entrepreneur with a strong track record of recognising disruptive opportunities and building and scaling successful companies. Previously, he was Chief Technology Officer at IG Group before building a number of business across Europe, most notably PetMeds which he sold in 2012. Founded just four years ago, AVORA has already built an impressive client base in both the UK and USA, including Telefonica, Figleaves, OMD, NPR, HBO Latin America and Ocado.
